Praise the Lord, oh my soul…

The devil cannot feed us true food because he is the little god of emptiness, the the god of what is not. But there’s manna from heaven, free and fullfilling, for all who have been led out of slavery.

A Heart at Peace…

A Heart at peace gives life to the body…

SMASH BALL

Can the rush grow up without mire?

I owe many of the deeper thoughts to one Charles Spurgeon, as well as many a “Morning and Evening” of healthy conviction… Yet again, ”Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? ~ Jer.23:29 Sometimes I think my heart is softer than it really is, and then scripture breaks it to pieces (praise the Lord, because there’s nothing as sick as an ignorant heart). So this is where it broke…Job 8:11 “Can the rush grow up without mire?” The answer is no, and if you’re wondering what rush is, its a type of marsh plant thats COMPLETELY dependent on an abundance of water, a drought destroys it at once. How dependent am I on wordly blessings and absence of suffering to hold fast to my integrity? I want to know that if nothing makes sense, I’ll still hold fast to the One who does.

How sweet it is that Godly grief (conviction) leads us to repentance…Let us remember that “To live at the altar is the privilege of the royal priesthood.” ~Charles Spurgeon

As you can see Angela is making the first move by taking burnt stuff from the oven to use as face paint.  Genius!

Classy, we are in need of a second occasion…with plenty of pictures of coarse and maybe a little oven dust as well (no fires though…)

Last night…  Oh my goodness…  I haven’t had this much fun in… I can’t remember.  Well that’s not exactly true but… I don’t know exactly what got into 2 grown women… we couldn’t stop laughing and playing with everything!

It all started with a simple serving heart.  Angela and I decided to get together and make the youth something for their Thanksgiving dinner night.  Then it turned into dinner for us and some friends who are feeling under the weather.  On last night’s menu we made one of my un-healthy favorites, but a big comfort food, Tater Tot casserole.  From there we moved on to Cheesy biscuits (Red Lobster’s biscuit recipe), 3 boxes of Stuffing and lastly Guacamole (Chipotle’s recipe)

We had so much fun listening to music, being goofy and serving.  It reminds me of when King David danced in his underwear.  Just silliness for the Lord.

This is what happens when you leave us alone.

a nightly evening

“The night also is Thine.”—Psalm 74:16

“Gloomy seasons of religious indifference and social sin are not exempted from the divine purpose. When the altars of truth are defiled, and the ways of God forsaken, the Lord’s servants weep with bitter sorrow, but they may not despair, for the darkest eras are governed by the Lord, and shall come to their end at His bidding. What may seem defeat to us may be victory to Him.” -Charles Spurgeon

I’ll say in confidence that some seasons are harder than others and some nights darker than the ones before. Come the end of the night, however, one must decide either to walk into the light of morning or further retreat into darkness. A close friend recently said “whatever you do, just don’t leave your post.” Wise words, but to stand your ground, one must truly believe that “the night also is His.”

friends, set your heart on believing His word, because to leave your post is darker than any season, darker still than any night ahead, it’s the end.
